Obituary of Lindsay Grace Shangraw

Please share a memory of Lindsay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shangraw; Lindsay Grace, B. Eng. (Electrical) Passed away peacefully at her home, on Monday, August 10, 2015, in the arms of her mother, at the age of 29. Lindsay is the beloved daughter of Madelyne (Sandi) Shangraw. She was a graduate of Dr. S. J. Phillips P.S., O’Neill Collegiate, Davis Studio of Dance, and McGill University. She loved her position as a Hardware Designer at Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd. in Montreal. Lindsay was passionate about her faith, and lived it every day. She was an accomplished dancer, dancing for the pure joy of music and movement expression. She filled her life with learning, travel, the arts, cooking, spending time with friends, and her special little dog Teddy. Lindsay will be missed by her father, Larry Dick, her extended family, and many friends. She was an inspiration to so many, especially those who walked with her through this most difficult journey to the end of her earthly life. A service to celebrate Lindsay’s life will be held in the DE STEFANO FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport) 905-440-3595 on Saturday, August 22nd at 2:00pm. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.destefanofuneralhomes.ca If desired, memorial donations would be appreciated to support any of the following: Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre, in Oshawa, where Lindsay received incredible encouragement from their staff, programs, and services throughout her illness. Lakeridge Health Foundation “Durham Region Cancer Centre” for their exceptional care. Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC), which relies on donations to offer affordable conferences and retreats to young adults with cancer – young adults with cancer have few resources for support specific to their age group. Camp Mak-A-Dream, Gold Creek, Montana, a place where young adults can go to experience a week with other young adults with cancer. In June, Lindsay was able to attend the camp for the second year. This is an amazing place which accommodates all abilities and needs, and is supported solely by donations. There is no charge to the campers. The Wendy Bear Patient Assistance Program is named in memory of Wendy, the wife of hockey legend Darryl Sittler, a long-time supporter Colon Cancer Canada. It is in her memory that the Wendy Bear was created with 100% of the proceeds of the bear going directly to support palliative care patients in need. Lindsay was so grateful for the generous bursary she received from this organization at the beginning of her cancer journey.
